Light For Glock 19 - I recently completed a portion of training with my trusty Glock 19. Although we focused on adding a red dot sight from Holosun, one phrase kept coming up. - We don't shoot in the dark. That doesn't mean we don't shoot at night. But we don't film something or someone we can't see clearly. One of the basics of shooting is active target identification. So how do you spot your target at night? Of course with a light mounted on the weapon. Olight Gear Bunker is no stranger, their recent addition of the updated BALDR S caught my attention.
BALDR S: combines highly visible green light and 800 lemon white light. Duration increased to 140 minutes.

Its smaller form factor makes the BALDR S the perfect companion to a compact Glock. This new light from Olight has 200 more horsepower than the BALDR Mini. The BALDR S threw an impressive 800 lemons with a throwing distance of 130 meters. So we're raising the bar once again to fire a weapon of this magnitude. The inclusion of a visible green laser provides a secondary aiming device for those who prefer it. The user can select Light Only, Light/Laser, or Laser Only. This is a well thought out addition to the versatility of the light.

Adjustable rail: Move the rail adapter back and forth to direct the beam to the desired position. Fast installation and removal in seconds
Mounting the BALDR S is easy with the quick release lever. The BALDR S comes with a Glock-specific rail, but includes a 1913 Picatinny rail for those who use it. After mounting on the gun and before tightening the quick release, the beam can be pulled onto the guide. Make final settings easier to use. Adjust the torque after adjustment to prevent unexpected movement. There's also a smart magnetic charging cable that keeps the lamp's own 3.7v 380mAh battery intact. A red/green light on the cable indicates the charging status.
Activation of the light/laser is achieved by a discrete switch surrounding the trigger guard. A quick tap on the bottom turns on the light. Another quick click will launch it. Press and hold the temporary light switch. And if you don't need all 800 lemons, double-tapping the switch will reset it to the correct 100 lemons.
Olight is known for filling the niche of lightweight products with mid-range tools. Anyone can justify the expense with a well-placed and well-lit spotlight. Although not built for combat, I believe these lights will serve the average gun owner well. Things to remember: The maximum 800 seconds is only 60 seconds. It will automatically drop to 300 lemons in the remaining 39 minutes. Therefore, it is important to keep the battery charged. The IPX4 rating is also worth noting. BALDR S means it is only resistant to lightning. Despite these minor flaws, it will be installed in my EDC Glock 19 for now.

Eric Meissner served with the 2nd Battalion, 75th Guards Assault Company as a sniper team leader deployed to the Middle East, Central America and Asia. He is a licensed pilot, SCUBA diver and enjoys alpine skiing, traveling, kayaking, land exploration and golf. Raised in a military family, Eric has had the pleasure of living and skiing throughout North America and Europe. Now living in Northern Michigan with his wife and 2 sons, he continues to enjoy the outdoors as much as possible. Years ago it was almost impossible to see someone outside of the military or police carrying a gun with a weapon light. As lamps are more compact and cheaper, they are becoming more common. More and more civilians are starting to add flashlights to their concealed weapons. Inforce has released a new product to make this even easier.
Traditionally, adding a weapon light to your favorite compact rifle also added unnecessary bulk and made it easier to conceal. The flare also adds significant length without the bulkiness of the gun. Inforce took this from their most popular concealed carry pistol, the Glock 19, by designing a weapon light that fills the space under the dust cover.
The Inforce APLc weapon light is no thicker than a Glock 19 slide and no longer than a pistol barrel. At less than two ounces, it contains 200 lemons of pure white light. When carried in the IWB position (inside the waist belt), the minimal mass is not noticeable. If you are carrying off the belt, then there is no excuse for putting a light on the gun.

The main (and in fact the only) reason to carry a flashlight is to identify targets in a potentially deadly force situation. Even if some of us are chickens, 200 lemons is more than enough product for a light gun. Many shooters have trouble hitting targets that are not within the range of the APLc.
On a dark and foggy night, with carbonation, I want all the boogers. In a normal urban environment, APLc is acceptable when counting a small pack containing 200 lemons.
The original APL has problems with the fast delivery system. This was resolved in later generations. APLc and Inforce took the simplest approach. The mounting system uses a classic cross-sectional design. The screw goes through the APLc body and the G19 dust cover. On the other hand, it becomes a metal nut in the body of light. Care should still be taken when tightening the belt to avoid tearing the threads or cracking the beam body. This is a very simple and effective design.
The controls in Inforce APLc set it apart from the competition. APLc is compact and easily accessible in light, whether transient or static. In normal two-handed shooting, it is easier to press the switch with the thumb of the side hand. A quick tap and release turns on the light in static mode. Another click and release will launch it. Holding the pedal for more than half a second will temporarily put it on hold. Releasing the button will activate it. If the light is on, in steady state, it will turn off if you hold the pedal down for more than 1/2 second. This is more complicated to write than to do.
Klarus Gl1 Review (600 Lumen, Small Weapon Light, Micro Usb)
The APLc really leaves the competition behind, and you can only use one hand to operate the gun. In this case, it is very important to turn on the light by hand and then quickly activate the trigger. APLc tablets are mostly in the hands of the index finger. A quick tap when the gun is released will pull the beam into a static position. The index finger then uses the trigger for free. When it's time to move, another quick tap on the pad turns off the light. It's a super easy activity to do while you're tucking the kids in and your mind is racing in the middle of the night.
In a dedicated tool, the table should work using the back seat. Appearance should come last. In this case, Inforce is a big improvement over the look of the original APL. The full size APL we currently use in our SIG 1911s is gray in color. It doesn't look good on the flat gray/black finish of this gun, which seems to ignore the dark black finish of the Glock polymer frame. It makes sense that Inforce uses a matte black polymer for the Glock specific APLc. The color and texture complement the Glock frame. The shape of the APLc flows into the Glock line and feels like a good system rather than being mounted on an accessory. Inforce even positioned APLc's boards to better match the custom frame that's trending on Instagram.
Overall, Inforce did a wonderful job of creating a light that complemented the Glock 19, rather than detracting from the compact form that hides such a great gun. What's even more surprising is that Inforce offers a light made in the USA with an MSRP of $150.
